How Discoverable
Is Your Community?

Most communities are invisible in the digital searches that drive where people move, where businesses locate, and where visitors go. ExploreScore™ measures your community’s digital visibility — and shows you exactly what it takes to be found.

The Challenge

Most Communities Are Invisible Online

The residents, businesses, and visitors who would choose your community are searching online before they ever visit. In most communities, that search ends somewhere else — because the digital infrastructure to capture it doesn’t exist.

Lost Population Growth

Families researching where to move can't find your community in the searches that matter. They don't know why they should live there, what makes it distinctive, or what opportunities exist — because the digital story hasn't been told.

Unrealized Tourism Revenue

Visitors searching for travel experiences like yours are choosing communities with stronger digital presence. Annual events, outdoor assets, and heritage destinations go undiscovered because they aren't findable in the searches that drive travel decisions.

Missed Economic Development

Site selectors and business owners evaluating your region are searching online first. Communities without unified, AI-readable digital infrastructure don't appear in the searches that drive location decisions — regardless of how strong the actual opportunity is.

The Visibility Gap

Demand exists for your community. The infrastructure to capture it doesn't.

ExploreScore’s Digital Opportunity dimension measures this gap — the distance between the search demand that already exists for your community and the digital infrastructure that currently captures it. A large gap is not a problem. It is an opportunity with a measurable size.

What's Included

Your Community Audit — Four Components

Every community that requests an assessment receives a full four-component analysis — delivered by our team, benchmarked against peer communities, and actionable from day one.

Component 01

Visibility Analysis

How findable is your community across Google, AI assistants, and digital platforms? We assess your presence across the searches that actually drive decisions — not just direct name searches.
Search presence by category
Component 02

Sentiment Analysis

When your community does appear online, how is it perceived? We evaluate the tone, accuracy, and consistency of your community’s digital narrative — and identify where the story needs to be corrected or amplified.

04

You Have a Strategy

Every report includes specific, actionable next steps — ranked by impact and achievable within Year 1 of a platform partnership.

Your Score Over Time

ExploreScore improves as your digital presence grows

ExploreScore is not a one-time snapshot. It is re-assessed annually using the same methodology — giving community leaders a trackable, defensible measure of their digital visibility improvement.

Communities in the Rising tier see the most dramatic improvement in Year 1 — because the gap between their real-world character and their digital presence is the largest. Every infrastructure investment closes that gap measurably.

Community Types

Scored Against Your True Peers

Every community is classified by size and character — and benchmarked only against communities of the same type. A Micro Community is never ranked against a Metro Community. The comparison is always fair.

Metro Community

50,001 – 250,000 residents

Regional hub communities. CVB/EDC partnership approach. Corridor anchor positioning.

Urban Community

5,000 – 50,000 residents

Core Explore America market. Full platform, magazine, and Business Visibility Index — direct community sale.

Micro Community

1,000 – 4,999 residents

Activated through county-bundle platforms or alongside neighboring Urban Communities.

Rural Community

Under 500 residents

Every Rural Community can have its own unique digital identity and domain — giving every incorporated place a professional platform and web presence, regardless of size.

Destination Community

Any size · Character-based

Communities defined by visitor draw — heritage significance, recreation assets, or annual events. Designation earned by what the community draws, not what it counts.
Peer-Accurate Benchmarking

Your score — meaningful at five levels

Every comparison is fair because the methodology never changes. Your community is always measured against its true peers — never against communities of a fundamentally different scale or character.

Level 1

Peer Group

Communities of the same type and size. Like-for-like comparison — your true peer set.

Level 2

County

All assessed communities in your county — competing for the same residents and investment.

Level 3

State Region

Communities in the same economic region — same market conditions and growth drivers.

Level 4

State

Your statewide rank among all comparable communities. Texas: your position among 369 scored communities.

Level 5

National

All assessed US communities. Same methodology in every state — every score directly comparable.

Built for Community Leaders

The people who shape their community's future

ExploreScore speaks the language of community leadership — measurable outcomes, competitive positioning, and a clear path forward. The assessment is complimentary and delivered directly to the leaders who act on it.

Mayors & Elected Officials

"We want to champion what our community has to offer — but we don't have a measurable way to show progress." ExploreScore gives elected leaders a defensible, annually trackable benchmark they can present publicly and act on decisively.

City Managers & Administrators

"We need to show the value of every investment we make in community visibility." ExploreScore provides the operational benchmark — scored, tracked, and re-assessed annually — that justifies platform investment with measurable outcomes.

EDC & Tourism Boards

"We want to attract businesses and visitors — but we can't measure whether they can find us." ExploreScore benchmarks your community against the competitors site selectors and travelers are already comparing you to — and shows exactly where the gap is.

Chambers & Main Street Executives

"Our member businesses need to be found online — individually and as part of a community." Every assessment includes a Business Visibility Index — individual digital presence scores and improvement roadmaps for local businesses.

Prominent Local Business Leaders

"I want to be the first thing visitors and new residents find when they search my category in this community." The Business Visibility Index — included in every community assessment — gives local business leaders their own individual visibility score and a specific roadmap to improve it.

Where they land when they’re ready to connect directly.

Most communities have invested in Steps 2, 3, and 4. They have a website. They may have an agency. They have a CRM tracking relationships with businesses they already know. And they wonder why the right businesses and families aren’t finding them.

They built everything except the front door.

Step 1 is not optional. AI tools, platform search, and discovery networks are now deciding which communities surface — before any human clicks anything. The communities not indexed, not scored, and not present on a national discovery platform aren’t losing the competition for that business or that family. They’re not in it. ExploreScore tells you exactly where your community stands — and what it takes to be found first.

Common Questions

What community leaders ask most

Is this available for any US community?

Yes. ExploreScore applies the same methodology to any US community — regardless of state, size, or economic profile. Current assessments span Texas, Oklahoma, Virginia, and New Mexico, with national expansion ongoing. A score in Oklahoma means the same thing as a score in Texas because the formula never changes.

How is our community compared fairly to others?

Every community is classified by type and size — and benchmarked only against genuine peers. An Urban Community is compared to other Urban Communities. A Micro Community is compared to other Micro Communities. Five levels of comparison (peer group, county, state region, state, national) ensure the benchmark is always contextually relevant.

What makes ExploreScore different from other community ratings?

Most community ratings are self-reported, survey-based, or focused on a single dimension. ExploreScore is a multi-dimensional, research-based assessment produced through independent research by our team. The score is independently derived, calibrated against a national dataset, and trackable year over year. It is a benchmark, not a ranking — and it comes with a specific improvement roadmap.

How long does the assessment take?

The request itself is simple — your community name, your role, and your contact information. Our team then conducts the research and delivers your full four-component report: ExploreScore, Visibility Analysis, Sentiment Analysis, and Competitive Analysis — along with your 3-year improvement roadmap. The research and delivery are done by our team, not by you.

What does it cost to request an assessment?

The community audit and ExploreScore are delivered complimentary to every community that requests one. There is no cost and no obligation. The platform partnership — and the ongoing visibility improvement it produces — is a separate conversation, made only after your leadership team has seen your score, understands your position, and decides what the path forward looks like for your community.
